Moving can be stressful, but the right moving company can be the answer to all your problems. Here are a few tips to help you avoid moving scams:
* The Low Estimate: You’ve heard the saying if it sounds to good to be true it probably is. This applies to moving estimates. They will promise you to get the job done in a short amount of time over the phone. This is very common so that makes it easy to detect… move on to the next company.
* Demanding cash or a large deposit: Your valuables should be your deposit. If you pay cash there is no way to dispute the charges with a credit card company. If there is no money trail there is no way to hold the movers who have your stuff accountable.
* Movers without a website: There is no reason a reliable moving company should not have a website. A website is where you should be able to go to do some background searching on the company. A reputable company will brag with customer testimonials.
* Branded trucks: This is a very easy thing to discredit a so-called moving company. If it looks like a van that someone rented earlier that morning, it very well could be. Moving companies take pride in designing truck designs.
*Check the ratings: BBB certified movers are the best way to go. Let someone else do the work for you, if you can see the moving company has been certified as a reputable movers then you are good to go!
