Exposing rogue moving companies

FROM THE ARIZONA REPUBLIC: “Unscrupulous movers hit unsuspecting customers with hidden fees, bad service, even intimidation; lowest cost should not be only factor in decision.”
Arizona’s largest newspaper recently ran a story to expose rogue moving companies and to make the consumer public aware of what to look for when choosing a reputable mover.  The article provided some fantastic statistics (see right) along with some chilling personal consumer experiences.

Dircks was thrilled to participate in the story, providing our own tips for consumers as an A+ rated company with the Better Business Bureau. But the most telling statement was this: “Interstate moves can be perilous, particularly because it can be difficult to tell what company actually will be packing and hauling your belongings. If we get 100 complaints, you can bet 99 of them will be about movers coming from out of state,” said Shawn Marquez, acting director of the Department of Weights and Measures.

This is so true, and sadly it’s an all-too-prevalent problem in the moving industry today. Dircks handles a very large number of interstate moves as an OA/DA provider, and our BBB rating and record with regard to customer satisfaction speaks for itself.

We ask that you remember that when shopping around for an OA/DA agent, but even if you don’t ultimately go with Dircks, please do your research and pick a reputable company.  The more we do this as an industry, the greater chance we have of putting rogue movers out of business!
