We’ve gone over what do to before you move; now we’ll discuss what to do after you have settled into your new home.  It’s time to learn about your new neighborhood.  Here are some suggestions to help get you acclimated to your new city.

• Check out the local community paper specific to your new city.  This will be full of current events, and will list retail shops and stores that you may find useful.  The paper will let you know what is in your city so you know what to look for.  The community paper will also let you know what events typically happen in your area and give you a sense of what your new city is all about.
• Visit the local library.  The library will most likely have posts of local events and town meetings that you can attend to better familiarize yourself with the new area.
• Now that you have an idea for what’s in your city and what’s going on, grab a map or local guide and explore! Visit any stores or events that you found interesting, and use the map to learn the streets and your way about town.

Once you get familiar with what is in your new area, get involved with the local community organizations, join a gym and introduce yourself to your neighbors.  Your new city will feel like home in no time!
