Dircks held a media day at our warehouse in anticipation of the distribution of over 1 million packages of Girl Scout Cookies throughout the state of Arizona. Dircks has been the distribution point for the area Girl Scout cookies for several years and we receive much media attention for this annually. This year, some Girl Scouts attended our early morning session with the FOX affiliate (KSAZ), CBS affiliate (KPHO) as well as an unaffiliated (KTVK) television station. Each year the Girl Scouts come up with a theme for their cookies sales and community outreach.
This year, Girl Scouts in Arizona showed their appreciation to those in the military by handing out cookie donations to uniformed military personnel and their families, made possible through the Gift of Caring program. Cookies were sold with the intent of having them shipped to military overseas. So, with that in mind, between television interviews, the girls created a huge thank you banner that was then sent to the Arizona National Guard soldiers stationed in the Middle East to go along with their cookies. The Arizona National Guard overseas reciprocated by sending a photograph of the unit hoisting the banner to show their appreciation. http://twitpic.com/1f47da We were very proud to be a part of the Girl Scouts Gift of Caring program this year!
