Questions to Ask When Planning a Move

Moving can be pretty expensive. Because of this, you might be thinking about moving yourself instead of using a professional moving company in order to save money. However, you should ask yourself the following questions before you decide to go this route:

  • How much time do you have? – If you’re on a deadline; for example, you only have the weekend to move because of work, then you’ll probably be better off working with professional movers. Attempting to move everything yourself can take a long time. The last thing you want to do is end up having to take a day off of work to finish moving because of how long it’s taking you.
  • Can you afford not to hire movers? – Consider working a professional moving company into your budget. Why? Because time is money, and a moving company will save you loads of time. For example, if you end up having to take a day off work to finish, you’ll lose income. If all your friends come over to help you, you might feel obligated to thank them by buying food and refreshments. Additionally, if you have to make multiple trips, you’ll spend a ton in gas money, and if you have to rent a truck, then you might as well pay a little extra for a moving company.
  • Do you have the proper equipment? – Moving isn’t as easy as just throwing all your boxes into your car. Moving companies use professional equipment to move larger pieces of furniture efficiently and safely. If you don’t have such equipment, you could end up damaging your furniture or hurting yourself attempting to move items on your own.

These are three questions that you should ask yourself before you decide to try and move your things on your own. For information about our residential moving services, be sure to contact us at Dircks Moving & Logistics today.
